Vice President and CTO, Philips China
Dr. Xi Wang is currently Vice President and CTO of Philips China. He is a member of the top management team of Philips China, responsible for the health technology innovation strategy and digital transformation of Philips in China.
Dr. Xi Wang began to take his current role in April 2016. As the head of Philips Research China and China Digital Innovation, he led the teams to keep driving the technological innovations and integrated solutions in two areas—Health Systems and Personal Health, and made meaningful contributions to the sustainable development of China’s healthcare industry.
Prior to joining Philips, Dr. Xi Wang was the global general manager of X-ray solutions at Carestream Health and general manager of the company’s Shanghai R&D center during 2014-2015, responsible for the long-term development strategy and technological innovation of medical imaging products. From 2004 to 2014, Dr. Xi Wang took many key leadership positions at GE, including general manager of the global CT business unit of the healthcare division as well as the general manager of the cell analysis business unit of the life sciences division. He was instrumental behind the business development and growth of the two business across the global markets. He was technology growth leader at GE China Technology Center, to drive the strategic vision of “In China for China”, to accelerate substantial local innovations from idea to market, to realize the shift from reverse innovation to collaborative innovation, and to expedite the localization for GE in China. Prior to that, he was doing computer research at the US headquarters of GE Global Research. His professional career began in 1993 at the China National Automotive Industry Import and Export Corporation (CAIEC), where he was in a management position.
Dr. Xi Wang has a profound understanding of the medical devices and health industries both in China and abroad as well as rich business management and operation experiences. He holds a doctorate degree from the Pennsylvania State University, a Master’s Degree from the Tsinghua University, and an MBA from the Indiana University.
