Guang Zhou is the Co-Founder and Chief Scientist of Roadstar.ai. Guang previously worked on sensor calibration, time synchronization, and perception-related deep learning algorithm at Baidu USA’s Autonomous Driving Unit. In this position, he helped Baidu improve the detection accuracy of traffic signs to 99%. In May 2017, Dr. Guang Zhou founded Roadstar.ai in Shenzhen as the Chief Scientist. Under the leadership of Guang Zhou, Roadstar.ai’s world's leading hardware and perception teams have independently developed two proprietary technologies — HeteroSync (multi-sensor synchronization) and DeepFusion (deep fusion of high dimensional sensor data), tackling the cost and technical bottlenecks of the autonomous driving system.
The application of these two core technologies is Aries— a first generation L4 autonomous driving solution capable of handling highly complex urban driving environments in China. Roadstar.ai announced US$128 million in Series-A Funding at the same time.
Guang Zhou holds a BS (Bachelor of Science) degree from Tsinghua University’s Academic Talent Program (1% acceptance rate) and a Ph.D. degree from University of Texas at Dallas specializing in artificial intelligence with focuses on UAV perception, path planning, and control algorithms. In 2015, he stood out from 200 teams in DJI Developer Challenge and won the 1st place. During his doctoral study (2013 - 2015), Guang Designed a variety of Internet of Things project for Texas Instruments Kilby Lab and led the Agribot robot project.
Guang Zhou has substantial expertise in mathematics, physics, statistics, and artificial intelligence algorithms. He has been working on robot and hardware integration for more than ten years, and also has extensive experience in computer vision and deep learning.
