Focusing on the theme of "digital transformation with AI", the China Smart City Expo 2018 will be hosted in Shenzhen from Nov 14 to 18, opening at the same time as the Asian Pacific Smart City Development Summit Forum 2018.
Over the past few years, China has attached great importance to the development of smart city. With an estimated investment of $20.8 billion this year, an increase of 20.2 percent on 2017, China is the world's second largest spending market for smart city-related technologies. This year's expo provides a stage to showcase the latest technologies with innovative applications, the most excellent research and development results, as well as to highlight successful construction cases.
As a senior form of urban development, smart city is the outcome of knowledge and innovation, aiming to realize the fusion of informatization and urbanization.
Intelligent transportation display, one of the key factors in the smart city process, is derived from the intelligent transportation system (ITS) introduced by the United Nations in the 1960s. It uses a real-time, accurate and efficient comprehensive management and control transportation system, applying intelligent monitoring, the Internet of Things (IoT), spatial awareness, cloud computing, mobile internet and big data technologies in order to achieve an intelligentized transportation system layout, including car networking and unmanned driving.
Wise Information Technology of 120 (WIT120), including electronic medical records (EMR), mobile medical equipment, telemedicine and wearable medical devices, means to allocate medical care resources intelligently on the basis of EMR and the wide use of IoT technology. Having completed the foundational construction of WIT120, its application in China is still in the early stages and intelligent operating practices needs to be developed, such as the exchange and sharing of medical resources, intelligent decision-making and telemedicine. According to industry participants, artificial intelligence is expected to make a breakthrough in the development of WIT120.
Intelligent security systems are widely used in China, particularly digital supervision, face recognition, security alarm systems and smart locks. Intelligent security technology has gradually progressed and been applied in various fields.
In the late 1990s, traditional educational forms were modified to a more advanced stage thanks to digital technology, making a qualitative leap forward in education. Integrating learning with big data, IoT, cloud computing and augmented reality technology (AR), smart education is expected to make ubiquitous learning a reality via mobile terminals and personalized learning support systems, providing learners more imaginary and development space.
Since the end of the 20th century, government affairs have been in a transition period from G2C to smart government affairs, moving to an all-encompassing and streamlined operation with the application of interconnection and intelligence.
According to the organizers, the State Information Center; telecommunications equipment giants Huawei and ZTE; Isoftstone, Ping'an Technology, Pactera and Pico VR; along with hundreds of other exhibitors, will take part in the expo to show off the latest cutting edge technologies related to smart city. Additionally, industry leaders and elites will have more in-depth discussions on artificial intelligence and smart city construction at the forum on Nov 15 and 16.
