  The first CHTF in 1999:

  hosted by Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Information Industry, Chinese Academy of Sciences and the people’s government of Shenzhen. Zhu Rongji (Premier of the State Council at that time) declared its opening for the first CHTF. The exhibition area was 20200m. 

  The second CHTF in 2000:

  Newly added the exhibitions for biology and new materials; created in-pair discussion activities for hi-tech projects as well as auction fairs for hi-tech achievements; established the online standing transaction system. The exhibition area was expanded to 36000.

  The third CHTF in 2001:

  Added State Development Planning Commission of the PRC as the host and Ministry of Agriculture and Chinese Academy of Engineering as the co-hosts; added the exhibitions for agricultural hi-tech and their products; created, for the first time, the discussion activities for investment on business-starting enterprises; held a session for CHTF in other city for the first time. The exhibition area was expanded to 50000.

  The fourth CHTF in 2002:

  Created discussion activities for consultation about listing of Chinese enterprises in the overseas as well as super-SUPER activities for the first time; held “Summit meeting for stock exchanges in the world” for the first time.

  The fifth CHTF in 2003:

  Overcame the negative effect resulted from SARS and made new successes; pushed out “Exhibition for Excellently Transacted Projects” for the fifth anniversary of CHTF; held “Forum for Ministers of Science and Technology from Multiple Countries” for the first time and signed “Shenzhen Declaration”. Ministry of Commerce and National Development and Reform Committee replaced the original Ministry of Foreign Economy and Trade and the State Planning Commission and continued to be the hosts for CHFT and Ministry of Education joined as a host for CHFT.

  The sixth CHTF in 2004:

  CHTF was held simultaneously in Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center and CHTF Hall and the exhibition exceeded 130000 for the first time. Set up “Exhibition of State Hi-tech Achievements” and “Exhibition for Opto-FPDs”; held the hi-tech fair for talents. Ministry of Personnel, State Intellectual Property Office and Chinese Academy of Engineering joined as the hosts. The transaction center for CHTF and the information technology exhibition joined UFI.

  The seventh CHTF in 2005:

  Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center was fully completed and the exhibition, conference and activities for CHTF were concentrated for the first time in one place, creating a new record for the scale of CHTF. “Bluesky award for ten leading technologies with the biggest investment value in the renewable energy sector in the world” from the UNIDO entered CHTF. Session was held in the foreign country for the first time and the CHTF was promoted in all fields to be more international, elaborate, professional and marketable.

  The eighth CHTF in 2006:

  held the large-scale and high-level exhibition for the independent innovation and cyclic economy of China for the first time; 14 minister-level officials from 11 countries took part the “Ministerial Forum”, creating the biggest number in all CHTFs; set up “Exhibition for Individual Technological Innovation” for the first time. Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense acted as a host for CHTF.

  The ninth CHTF in 2007:

  Held the CHTF in Spring for the first time; successfully held the overseas session again; the overseas session was developed to “Hall for the overseas high technologies and products”; “Bluesky List for Renewable Energy Industries in China” entered CHTF.

  The tenth CHTF in 2008:

  The CHTF 2008 not only successfully held Seminar on Sino-Hungarian/Finnish Hi-tech Collaboration overseas, but also held exhibition area of 13,000 square meters in Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center. It consisted of 6 components as Transactions of Hi-tech Achievements, Specilized Shows, Forums, super-SUPER Special Events, Hi-tech Human and Intellectual Resources Exchange and A year-round Fair. Centering in the theme of “Scientific technology improves the people’s living conditions and innovation changes the world”, the CHTF 2008 exhibited the achievements in China made by independent scientific and technological innovation in 30 years after the reform and opening-up, absorbed all innovative factors and improved the transactions of hi-tech achievement and products.
