The China Hi-Tech Fair (“THECHTF”), approved by the State Council of the People's Republic of China in 1999 and annually held in Shenzhen in October, is currently a science & technology fair with the biggest scale and the most influence in China. It is jointly hosted by Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, State Intellectual Property Rights Office, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Engineering, Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government and co-hosted by Ministry of Agriculture.
Since its inception, CHTF has received great support and attention from various levels of Chinese governments and state leaders including Zhu Rongji, Wu Bangguo, Li Changchun, Wu Yi, Zeng Peiyan, etc. have visited each session in history respectively. Also, CHTF is recognized and welcomed by hi-tech enterprises both at home and abroad, and each session of CHTF has attracted merchants from nearly 50 countries worldwide, among which, there are delegations from 33 countries or international organizations such as US, Canada, Australia, Russia and EU, and more than 465 world-famous multinationals including Microsoft, IMB, Oracle etc.; each CHTF welcomes delegations from all the Chinese provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities, cities of independent budgetary status and dozens of well-established universities in each session for exhibition, transaction and negotiation; 435 global business, political and academic elites from the world have made speeches on the CHTF forum. For each fair, CHTF receives more than 500,000 visitors and the trade volume of products and technologies exceeds 13 billion US dollars. After 10 years of development, CHTF has already become “the No.1 Science and Technology Fair in China” with “state-level, international, high-level, large scale, pragmatic, professional and all-year-round” features.
TheCHTF 2008 will be held in Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center (SZCEC) with a total exhibition area of 130,000m2 from October 12 to 17, 2008. The year of 2008 is the 30th anniversary of China’s reform and opening-up and has a milestone meaning. It highlights the themes of “Technology for Improved Livelihood and Innovation for a better World” and consists of such sections as High-tech Achievement Show, Hi-tech Specialized Shows, Forum, super-SUPER Special Events, Human and Intellectual Resources Exchange and A year-round Fair.
I. Commercialization of Technological Innovation
Commercialization of Technological Innovation for CHTF 2008 consists of “National Hi-tech Innovation Achievement Show”, “Overseas Hi-tech Achievement Show”, “Local Hi-tech Innovation Achievement Show”, “University Hi-tech Innovation Achievement Show” and “Transaction Negotiation Show” etc.
“National Hi-tech Innovation Achievement Show” is composed of shows from ministries and commissions including Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Science and Technology, National Development and Reform Commission, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Ministry of Agriculture. It makes, for the first time, an authoritative, all-round and concentrated exhibition and inspection of development history and glorious achievements of China’s high-tech industry in 30 years after China’s reform and reform. Taking “Innovation in the Opening-up” as the theme, Ministry of Commerce has exhibited, in a concentrated mode, the achievements for construction of 38 national science and technology commercial innovation bases. The Ministry of Science and Technology has exhibited, in an all-round way, the achievements for national invention awards and national science and technology development. Taking “Ten-year Achievements for State High-tech Industrialization” as the theme of fair section, National Development and Reform Commission has emphatically exhibited the high-tech industrialization achievements in such aspects as information, biology, new materials, civil aeronautics and aerospace and industrial bases etc. Chinese Academy of Science has exhibited, in a concentrated way, the achievements in 10 years of Knowledge Innovation Project. Ministry of Agriculture has emphatically exhibited the achievements made from science and technology in promotion of agricultural development and improvement of peasant’s living standards. Besides, the universally welcomed “Robot Show” in the last CHTF has upgraded to “International Fair for Robots”, and such items of industrial robots, civil robots, special robots, intelligent healthy residence, residence and life as well as juvenile robots etc have been exhibited.
“Overseas Hi-tech Achievement Show” will hold 15 foreign government (institution) delegations from Russia, Finland, Germany, France, Austria, Hungary, Ireland, Belgium, Holland and South Korea etc., among which, delegation from Germany has participated in CHTF for the tenth consecutive year and those from Russia and Belgium for the ninth consecutive year.
All Chinese provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities and cities of independent budgetary status have assigned delegations to participate in “Local Hi-tech Innovation Achievement Show”, together with delegations from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, forming a “family portrait” for the 5th consecutive year in CHTF. Delegations from 26 well-known universities such as Tsinghua University, Fudan University and the University of Hong Kong will participate in “University Hi-tech Innovation Achievement Show” and bring their distinctive Hi-tech programs to embody proprietary innovation capabilities. Of them, the application and efficiency of high and new technologies in the activities for combating the earthquake and saving the victims and reconstruction after earthquake, the high and new technologies used for Beijing Olympics as well as the “Section for Shenzhen-Hongkong Innovation Circle” have become the highlights of the fair section.
For “Transaction Discussion Zone”, there are such contents as Start-up Enterprise Show, “IndividualTechnological Innovation Show”, “Investors and Intermediaries Show” and High-tech Project Matching Negotiation etc. Assisting in the concept of “Second Board”, a show for “Start-up and Listed Enterprises” has been specially set up in the “Start-up Enterprise Show” to exhibit the growth of medium and small start-up enterprises. The Individual-Sponsored Technological Innovation Show provides, free of charge, a transaction platform for the conversion of inventions and patents of civilian innovation personnel, the innovative “non-common understanding” projects and individual technological innovation achievements. In total, more than 130 individual technological projects have been exhibited, and the patent level has been obviously improved than before. Of them, there are a batch of technological inventions from the senior technicians and the patent technologies from Hongkong Invention Association. “Investors and Intermediaries Show” and “Negotiations for High-tech Projects” have provided multi-level, multi-directional and specialized ancillary services for the high-tech achievement transaction and attracted nearly 20 investment intermediary institutions for the exhibition.
II. Specialized Shows
TheCHTF 2008 Specialized Shows will include “IT of CHTF”, “CHTF/ELEXCON” and “CHTF/FPO-EXPO”.
IT of CHTF (“IT Show”) consists of 4 themes exhibition sections: “Digital products and computers”, “Network communication and devices”, “Software applications and solutions” and “Automobile electronics”. More than 200 Chinese and international enterprises such as ABB, SAP, NGN, Foxconn, BROTHER, ETX, e-Comglobal, Advantech, Konka, Skyworth, Jiuzhou, Coship, Han’s Laser, Elitek, Hanwang, Gionee, ADEL etc. from countries like South Korea, Switzerland, US, Germany, Japan, Singapore, Australia and Chinese regions including Taiwan, Hong Kong and the mainland will take part in CHTF 2008; meanwhile, such four institutions as South Korea Information Technology Research Institute, Taiwan Trading Association, Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturer’s Association and Shenzhen Software Industry Association will participate in this fair.
CHTF/ELEXCON will involve semiconductor and IC design, passive elements/components, electronic packaging and environment-friendly manufacturing, laser technologies, electronic materials, circuit board and relevant devices, lines and cable, adapters, test and certification, industrial control and anti-static products etc. Nearly 220 domestic and foreign famous enterprises such as TDK, OMRON, NI and Matsushita Electric Works etc. have taken part in the fair; meanwhile, a series of industrial activities such as global conductor market conference, China Mobile Phone manufacture technology forum, and international passive element technology and market development conference are being held in the fair period.
CHTF/FPD-EXPO will be divided into such sections for Application Products, LCD/PDP/OLED Devices, LCD/PDP/OLED Panels/Modules, LCD/PDP/OLED Materials/Assemblies and “Cleaning/Purifying/Anti-static” etc and more than 150 domestic and foreign enterprises such as Sumitomo Chemical, LG, NittoDenco and MIK will take part in it. Concurrently, the special seminar will be held to discuss the newest market and technological status of FPD in China and the world.
III. Forum
TheCHTF 2008 Forum will make a further step both in large scale and high level with “Ministerial Forum, Global CEO Forum, Capital Market Summit Forum and Chinese Entrepreneurship Forum”.
Ministers from Finland, Hungary and Israel etc. will both attend and address the “Ministerial Forum” with topics on proprietary innovation and sustainable development, etc.; Senior executives from 7 international reputable enterprises including Douglas W. Muzyka, Vice-president of DuPont, Wang Chuanfu, the Chairman and the President of Beyond, Theresa Kotanchek, global technical supervisor of Dow Chemical, Ulrich Gwinner, thepresident of US Steelcase for Asia-Pacific regions, Chen Zhilie, theChairman of Bureau of Directors of EVOC, Yuan Ming, thechairman and president of Shenzhen Coship and Simon J. Mackinnon, president of US Corning for China will attend and address “Global CEO Forum” with topics on establishment and management of corporate business, social liabilities of entrepreneurs, enterprise internationalization, etc.; London Stock Exchange, Deutsche Börse AG, NYSE Euronext, NASDAQ Stock Exchange and Tokyo Stock Exchange etc. will take part in the “Capital Market Summit Forum”, the high-level executives from Research Center of China Securities Regulatory Commission, Pingan Securities Company Ltd and Guosen Securities will make speeches on the forum and the high-level personnel from such units as Department of High and New Technology and Industrialization of Ministry of Science and Technology, Han’s Laser, Oriental Fortune, Capital Group and AirMedia will attend “Chinese Entrepreneur Forum”.
IV. super-SUPER Special Events
TheCHTF 2008 super-SUPER Special Events will provide opportunities for business communication, meeting and negotiation to participants including officials of Chinese and foreign governments, presidents of multinationals, senior executives of stock exchanges and professionals/scholars through customized “menu-style” services. Besides “Promotion and Consultation Activities for Being Listed in Stock Exchanges” and “In-pair cooperation discussion” have been arranged.
V. Human and Intellectual Resource Exchange
The CHTF 2008 Hi-tech Human and Intellectual Resource Exchange consists of such contents as “High-level Talent Exchange” and “Fair of Talent Service Organs” etc, and is composed of seven parts such as high-level talent exchange, fair of talent service organs, fair of education and training organs, fair of famous talent intermediary websites, fair of Excellent Enterprises for Talent Growth, services from the high-level talent hunter and evaluation,and green channels for import of innovative talents.
VI. A Year-round Fair
A Year-round Fair offers a standing technology trading market by online transfer of technological achievements, online fairs, and routine collection of projects, reviews, promotion, matching and financing, provides intermediary services for Hi-tech trading all year round and promotes negotiation and trades after the fair. Two CHTF project matching conferences have been successfully held respectively in Helsinki, the capital ofFinland and Budapest, the capital of Hungary in 2008, creating the record for two sections in the foreign countries in a year for the CHTF and the biggest number of participating enterprises and personnel.
In addition to the above contents, the CHTF 2008 further features a range of large and colorful activities from different industries and large number of newest scientific and technological achievements. Clean Energy 863 Experts Forum, China International New Economy Forum, Ceremony for ten-year Hi-tech industrialization achievements, China Industry Teaching Research Cooperation Summit Forum, China Mobile Phone Industry Summit Forum, Opening Ceremony for No.2 Workshop of Century Epitech to go into production, press release for Beyond’s F3DM Dual-mode Electric-driven Vehicle, board-hanging ceremony for Sanofi Pasteur Life Science Garden, release of gene-related achievements of BGI, opening ceremony of incubator for international enterprises, startup of three-platform and one-union for software brands, board-hanging ceremony for Center of South of China of China IPR Trade Center, ceremony for issuing awards to the winners in the first mobile phone design match in China and the ceremony for Shenzhen Sea Life Industrial Garden of State Industrial Base.
In order to exhibit the history and achievements of CHTF in a concentrated way in 10 years, the hall for foreword of the tenth anniversary of CHTF has been arranged for all-round review of its history, a series of activities have been hold for 10-year anniversary of CHTF and a number of activities have been made for selection of “Ten Biggest News”, “One-hundred Famous Persons”, “A Thousand Innovative Enterprises” and “Ten-million High-tech Industrialization Projects”. The contents for conferences of ministries and commissions are rich. China Academy of Sciences shall hold the high-level “Second Biological Industry Development Forum (2008)” and shall co-host “2008 ICMA Summit Forum. State IPR Bureau shall also hold the high-level forums. The research results for “Analysis on Potential of Future Cooperation between China and EU for ICT Research” shall be exhibited in an all-round way for the SPICE project under “The Sixth Science and Technology Research and Development Framework Plan for EU).
It is ten years of cultivation, efforts and innovation. As a fair of connecting link, the CHTF 2008 has embodied, in an all-round way, new ideas, new measures, new contents, new highlights and new features on the experiences from the previous one, as well as the more obvious platform functions for leading, service, congregation and radiation. |
