The China Hi-Tech Fair (“THE CHTF”), approved by the State Council of the People's Republic of China in 1999 and annually held in Shenzhen in October, is currently the most sizable and influential science & technology fair around China. It is jointly hosted by Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Information Industry, National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Personnel, Commission of Science Technology and Industry for National Defense, State Intellectual Property Office, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Engineering, Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government and co-hosted by Ministry of Agriculture.
Since its inception, The CHTF has received grand support and consideration from Chinese government departments at all levels.State leaders including Zhu Rongji, Wu Bangguo, Li Changchun, Wu Yi, Zeng Peiyan, etc. have visited each session in history respectively. Also, the CHTF is recognized and welcomed by Hi-Tech enterprises both at home and abroad, each session of the CHTF has attracted merchants from nearly 50 countries worldwide, among which there are delegations from 30 countries or international organizations such as US, UK, Germany, Canada, Australia, Italy, Russia and EU, and more than 40 international famous multinationals including Microsoft, IMB, Oracle, Siemens, British Telecommunications, Ericsson, Philips, SAP, Sony, Samsung, etc.; The CHTF welcomes delegations from all the Chinese provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities and cities of independent budgetary status, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and dozens of well-established universities in each session for demonstration, trade and negotiation; Over 300 global business, political and academic celebrities, such as Nobel Prize winners, ministers or higher level government officials, and CEOs from multinationals, have addressed the THE CHTF forum (the former THE CHTF Forum on World Technology & Economy). For each year, THE CHTF receives more than 500,000 visitors and the trading of products and technologies exceeds 13 billion US dollars.
With 8 years of development and improvement, The CHTF, featuring “state-level, international, high-level, large scale, pragmatic, professional and all-year-round”, has already become the largest and most influential technical exhibition in China known as “the No.1 Science and Technology Fair in China”.
The CHTF 2007, which will be held in Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center (SZCEC) with a total exhibition area of 130,000 square meters from October 12 to 17, 2007, consists of 6 sections: Commercialization of Technological Innovation, Specialized Shows, Forum, super-SUPER Special Events, Hi-Tech Human and Intellectual Resource Exchange and A year-round Fair. In accordance with the national economic development strategy, The CHTF 2007 will highlight 3 themes: Promote Open Innovation, Protect Intellectual Property Rights and Build Harmonious Society.
- Commercialization of Technological Innovation
The CHTF 2007 Commercialization of Technological Innovation consists of “National Hi-Tech Innovation Achievement Show”, “Overseas Hi-Tech Achievement Show”, “Local Hi-Tech Innovation Achievement Show”, “University Hi-Tech Innovation Achievement Show”, “Individual-Sponsored Technological Innovation Show” and “Investment, Procurement and Transaction Negotiation Show”.
“National Hi-Tech Innovation Achievement Show” is composed of shows from ministries and commissions including National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Information Industry, Ministry of Commerce, Commission of Science Technology and Industry for National Defense, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Ministry of Agriculture. The show from National Development and Reform Commission, featuring “Enhance Proprietary Innovation, Develop High Technology, Realize Industrialization” as its theme and the typical Hi-Tech industrialized achievements in China since the 16th NCCPC as its core content, will unfold the significant efforts made and remarkable achievements realized for proprietary innovation promotion in Hi-Tech industries represented by the information industry; The show from Ministry of Commerce will energetically build the newly sponsored “American Display Area” in “Overseas Hi-Tech Achievement Show”, provide the advanced technologies and products of each country with an easy entry and promotion platform in China for mutual benefits and win-win situation; The show from Commission of Science Technology and Industry for National Defense, the initial display organized by this commission delegation ever since its membership establishment as one of the the CHTF hosts in the CHTF 2006, features the updated Hi-Tech achievements demonstration from 11 large corporations in aeronautics, astronautics and shipbuilding industries as well as Chinese Academy of Engineering Physics and 7 commission-affiliated colleges, and places a focus on the civil leading-edge technologies display in the technology field for national defense with a theme of “Proprietary Innovation and Serving the Society with National Defense Technologies”; The show from Chinese Academy of Science will feature its selected and most advanced innovation programs in related fields nationwide with its theme of “Proprietary Innovation and Intellectual Property Rights Protection with Chinese Characteristics”.
“Overseas Hi-Tech Achievement Show” will hold 18 foreign government (institution) delegations from US, UK, Germany, Russia, Australia and European Patent Office, among which delegations from Canada, Germany, Australia and other countries have participated in the CHTF for nine consecutive years, in contrast to State of Hessen in Germany for the first time participation. The primarily established American Display Area will provide booths to a group of US famous multinationals including GE, Motorola, Oracle, HP and Dell, etc. with a range of Hi-Tech products and technologies. Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan also have delegations to participate. Besides, the “Shenzhen-Hong Kong Innovation Circle Show” jointly-built by Shenzhen and Hong Kong with the theme of “Cooperation and Innovation, Making the Most Competitive Region in China” will give its first appearance in the CHTF 2007 to display the achievements and prospect of “Shenzhen-Hong Kong Innovation Circle” cooperation, the show of which is linked with the Hong Kong exhibition section.
All the Chinese provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities and cities of independent budgetary status have assigned delegations to participate in “Local Hi-Tech Innovation Achievement Show”, together with delegations from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, a “family portrait” of China delegations has been made for 4th consecutive year in The CHTF. Delegations from 26 well-known universities such as Tsinghua University, Fudan University and the University of Hong Kong will participate in “University Hi-Tech Innovation Achievement Show” and bring their distinctive Hi-Tech programs to embody proprietary innovation capabilities. “Individual-Sponsored Technological Innovation Show”, doubled in size comparably to The CHTF 2006, will remain free for technically innovative people for the purpose of encouraging civil proprietary innovation activities. There are over 100 people participating in this year's Individual-sponsored Technology Innovation Show, which is twice of the previous year. “Investment, Procurement and Transaction Negotiation Show” will offer multi-level, comprehensive, professional service for the commercialization of Hi-Tech achievements through Investment & Procurement Show and Hi-Tech Project Matching Negotiation Activity.
- Specialized Shows
THE CHTF 2007 Specialized Shows will include “IT of CHTF”, “CHTF/ELEXCON” and “CHTF/FPD-EXPO”.
IT of CHTF (“IT Show”) consists of 4 theme exhibition sections: “Network communication products and computer peripheral equipment”, “Software applications information service”, “Consumer electronics” and “Automobile electronics”. More than 80 Chinese and international enterprises such as Microsoft, Oracle, ABB, SAP, BROTHER, Lenovo, Foxconn, Jiuzhou, Kaspersky, etc. from countries like USA, Russia, Austria, Germany, South Korea, Singapore, Switzerland, Australia ,UK, Japan and Chinese regions including Taiwan, Hong Kong and the mainland will bring their updated products to the CHTF 2007; Overseas institution such as Korea Information Technology Research Institute, NEXFAIR Korea and Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturer’s Association, etc. will participate in this fair to display their most representative technologies and products.
CHTF/ELEXCON this time will become more international and professional, with an increasing proportion of overseas exhibitors, its content will cover semiconductor and IC design, passive device, electronic packaging and lead-free manufacturing, testing and measuring technologies, laser technologies, electronic materials and other electronic components. Global leading passive device manufacturers including TDK, Murata, EPCOS, KEMET, Taiyo Yuden, etc. as well as semiconductor manufacturers like NEC, Torex, OKI will appear in this fair, so will electronic multinationals such as SABIC Innovative Plastics, Rogers, NI, AGC, NITTO, Intertek and SGS, etc. A series of authoritative activities in electronics industry including Global Semiconductor Market Congress, the 4th China Mobile Manufacturing Technique Forum, International Passive Device Technique and Market Development Forum 2007, Portable Product Design and Power Management Technology Seminar 2007, IPC Work Asia 2007 will be held during the CHTF 2007.
CHTF/FPD-EXPO, the most authoritative FPD exhibition in China, covers both the up and the down streams of the industrial chain and attracts many industry insiders to participate. Overseas enterprises from South Korea, Japan, UK, Taiwan and Hong Kong including CPTF, Korea Taijing, Largan, Strength Group, Noritake, Igiant, OZU, Sekisui, Parker, Fujishoko, Fischer, Longho and Soken, plus Chinese enterprises like Tianma, BOE, SVA, United Win and Diguang with a total participant number of more than 140 well-known enterprises will participate in this show, presenting again the outstanding figure of the top FPD exhibition in China. In the same period of CHTF 2007, the 3rd China Display Industry Conference will be held to discuss updated market and technology trends of FPD both in China and worldwide.
- Forum
THE CHTF 2007 Forum will make a further step both in large scale and high level with “Ministerial Forum, Global CEO Forum, Cross-border Investment & Financing Forum” established and “Sino-US Industrial Technology Cooperation Summit” and “SME Board and SME Development Forum” newly provided.
Ministerial officials including China, Uzbekistan, Guinea, Tanzania, Jordan, Vietnam, Uganda, Bangladesh will both attend and address the “Ministerial Forum” with topics on proprietary innovation and sustainable development, etc.; Senior executives from 6 international reputable enterprises including John Wookey, Senior Vice President of Oracle and Ma Zhihong, CEO of Greater China Region and Vice President of Ericsson will both attend and address “Global CEO Forum” with topics on establishment and management of corporate business, social liabilities of entrepreneurs, enterprise internationalization, etc.; “Cross-border Investment & Financing Forum” mostly concerned by the capital market will attract ?senior executives from more than 9 institutions such as Zhejiang Silicon Paradise Venture Group and BOCOM International Holdings to attend.
To further boost the exchange and cooperation in economy and technologies for enterprises between China and US, Ministry of Commerce will hold “Sino-US Industrial Technology Cooperation Summit” in the CHTF 2007. This large and senior international exchange activity, closely combining theory with practice and focusing on the theme of “Proprietary Innovation, Mutual Benefits and Win-win”, provides Sino-US political, business and academic circles with dialogue and intercommunication platforms at different levels to improve mutual understanding and trust and further promote the overall development of Sino-US industrial technology cooperation. “SME Board and SME Development Forum” to be held by both Shenzhen Stock Exchange and THE CHTF Organizing Committee Office will give a summary on the three-year development success since the establishment of SME Board and display SMEs’ technological achievements. Experts and scholars such as Zhang Yujun from Shenzhen Stock Exchange and Yao Gang from China Securities Regulatory Commission, together with senior executives from famous securities traders and enterprises listed in SME Board will attend this forum.
- super-SUPER Special Events
THE CHTF 2007 super-SUPER Special Events will provide opportunities for business communication, meeting and negotiation to participants including officials of Chinese and foreign governments, presidents of multinationals, senior executives of stock exchanges and professionals/scholars through customized “menu-style” services. Besides “Overseas Listing Program” and “Business Match” remained, “Foreign Product Procurement Policy and Procedure Promotion” and “Foreign Product Procurement Conference” are additionally added to the super-SUPER Special Events.
Overseas Listing Program is largely popular among enterprises as a characteristic activity of the CHTF. In the CHTF 2007 this activity will include “Global Stock Exchange Summit and Press Conference” and “Promotion Activities of Stock Exchanges”, etc. with participants from 6 most famous stock exchanges worldwide such as NYSE-Euronext and Deutsche B?rse, where notably, a promotion conference will be held by Deutsche B?rse AG.
To extend the import of foreign hi-tech products, “Foreign Product Procurement Conference” and “Foreign Product Procurement Policy and Procedure Promotion” are initiated in this fair. “Foreign Product Procurement Conference” provides live promotion on exported technologies and products from different countries through issues of supply-demand information of hi-tech products beforehand, organizes Chinese enterprises and agencies with import demand to match and negotiate with those from foreign countries to effectively facilitate transactions. In the meantime, “Foreign Product Procurement Policy and Procedure Promotion” is held as well with participants from officials of China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Machinery and Electronic Products of Ministry of Commerce, the Commercial Section of US embassy, delegations from each state of US and senior executives of Think London, etc. to give discussions on issues like “Policies on Foreign Product Procurement and Investment, Policies on Importing Hi-Tech Innovation Products, Intellectual Property Rights Protection”.
- Hi-Tech Human and Intellectual Resource Exchange
THE CHTF 2007 Hi-Tech Human and Intellectual Resource Exchange consists of three parts: “High-level Talent Exchange”, “Universiade Publicity and Cooperation Negotiation”, and“Selection Activity of Excellent Enterprises for Talent Growth”.
It is the first time for services by High-level Talent Exchange accessible to both exhibitors and candidates for free with a scheme to provide more than 3,000 booths and 5,000 intermediate/senior job positions. In the meantime, a “Green Channel” will open to serve the innovative people that meet the requirements for registered residence in Shenzhen with “individual application” onsite advisory and verification application procedure. Besides, 30 booths will be customized for the publicity of Universiade talent service program, professional institutions and universities will be invited for demonstration and negotiation on the cooperation intent and related issues of Universiade talent service, and special talent bank for the Universiade will be established and enriched.
- A Year-round Fair
A Year-round Fair offers a standing technology trading market by online transfer of technological achievements, online fairs, and routine collection of projects, reviews, promotion, matching and financing, provides intermediary services for Hi-Tech trading all year round and promotes negotiation and trades after the fair. Eight CHTF Project Matching Negotiation Sessions have been successfully held in Beijing, Hubei, Sichuan, Shandong, Heilongjiang, Hong Kong, Guangxi and Macau respectively. In June 2005, the CHTF Project Matching Austria hit a success in Vienna, the capital of Austria. This year, The CHTF 2007 also had its successful Project Matching Negotiation Spain Session in Barcelona, Spain in June.
In addition to the six sections above, the CHTF 2007 further features a range of large and colorful activities from different industries with multiple updated technological achievements issued, which include: the “Shenzhen-Hong Kong Innovation Circle Show” jointly-built by Shenzhen government and Hong Kong government and its related activities, Robot Show firstly held nationwide and its forum, Issuing Ceremony of Price Index for China Electronic Market, Opening Ceremony of Southern Mobile Detecting Center of China Academy of Telecommunications Research of the Ministry of Information Industry, Press Conference and Opening Ceremony of China Mobile Design Competition, Opening Ceremony of Compound Semiconductor Industrial Base of Century Epitech, Trial Ceremony of Ground Digital TV Broadcasting in National Standard, Opening Ceremony of Dayawan Neutrino Reactor Project by China Academy of Science, Opening Ceremony of Venture Investment and Financing Square, Completion Ceremony of Jiuzhou Electrical Building, etc. Significant technological achievements issued include: initial issue of the first gene sequence mapping by Chinese with great significance in science and industry – “Yanhuang No.1” – achieved by Huada Genomics researchers; a group of updated technological achievements will be issued in CHTF 2007 such as BYD F6 Bi-module Electric Vehicle (namely, BYD Iron Cell Electric Vehicle), Honghua Stanching-Ready Powder, SuperD Photoelectron Stereo Display, etc.
Activities held by ministries and commissions in CHTF 2007 are rich as well, including the Designating Conference of National Hi-Tech Industry Demonstration Projects, Senior Forum of Peaceful Use of Military Technologies in China, Academician Forum, Bio-Industry Development Forum, etc. CHTF 2007 will provide special show for the SPICE project under “the 6th Technology Research & Development Framework Plan of EU” internationally cooperated, and hold “Sino-European Information Communication Technology Research Cooperation Forum” as well as related seminars; Ever since the settlement of the UNIDO based “Global Top Ten Investment Scenarios to Apply New Technologies for Renewable Energy Utilization BlueSky Award” in CHTF, “China Renewable Energy Industry BlueSky Chart” will be initialized in CHTF 2007. Besides, a great number of activities organized by Chinese and foreign governments, industrial organizations and enterprises such as the Global Semiconductor Congress, International Display Conference, Euro Patent Application Introduction Conference, Sino-Russian Innovative Technology Cooperation Conference will also be held in this fair, making CHTF more notable in its leading, serving, collective and emissive role as a platform.
