Seminar on Sino-Hungarian Hi-tech collaboration  

--with unprecedented scale & applause  

In the morning of May 19th (local time), Seminar on Sino-Hungarian Hi-tech collaboration opened in Budapest, Hungary after the capital city successfully hosted the Semina last year. This is the second time that CHTF Organizing Committee joined hands with Hungarian government to hold the Seminar. At 9 a.m., the 1,000-square-meter conference hall had already been filled with 50 people from Chinese governments, companies and research institutes in nine provinces or cities, and about another 250 representing 160 Hungarian enterprises, a doubled scale compared with 2008.  

Government officials at the opening ceremony included Vice Minister of Hungarian Ministry of Economic Development and Secretary of State, Chairman of DEMOS Hungary , Chinese Affair Specialist, China’s Ambassador to Hungary Zhang Chunxiang, and Director Liu Yajun from Investment Promotion Agency of Ministry of Commerce. Xu Qin, Vice director /secretary general of CHTF Organizing Committee, First Deputy Mayor of Shenzhen Municipal, briefly introduced developments in Shenzhen. Then, Gao Guohui, the deputy secretary of CHTF Organizing Committee and the vice chief secretary of Shenzhen Government made a short speech on CHTF. On behalf of Shenzhen Government, Xu Qin expressed warm welcome to the Seminar guests, and also expressed gratefulness to Hungarians who have always been caring about economic and social development in Shenzhen.  

On the ceremony, Huawei announced that it would open a branch company in Hungary this year. It will also establish a distribution center in the country with an estimated production of 1.5 billion US dollars in two years. The distribution center will fully make advantages of Hungary’s own transportation and infrastructure, and it is also expected to promote development of other local industries. Ambassador Zhang Chunxiang said , although in the global financial crisis ,the seminar again deliver China′s confidence to the world by promoting cooperation and partnership among hi-tech firms. It will be a significant channel for Chinese enterprises to explore foreign markets.  

Since 2005, CHTF began to hold Seminar on Sino-foreign Hi-tech collaboration for four consecutive years. The seminar was held in Autria and Spain,which well received by domestic and foreign governments, technical firms, as well as investors. Chairman of DEMOS Hungary, said in an interview, “We hope the Seminar will continue in Hungary, and grow larger. It is also our hope that Hungary can become the European center and base of CHTF”.
