CHTF highlights 6G technologies
News sources:CHTF Organizing Committee Release Date:2023-03-29

A number of new technologies related to 6G were showcased at the 24th China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF), which took place in Shenzhen, Guangdong province from Nov 15 to 19, 2022.

These include the terahertz integration platform based on lithium niobate chips developed by Nankai University in Tianjin. The on-chip frequency conversion and tuning technique enables very efficient nonlinear terahertz frequency conversion, the peculiar phase-matching transmission of "frozen phase" terahertz waves, and the dynamic topological regulation of terahertz waves, helping with terahertz computing, imaging and fingerprint detection.

State-owned telecoms giant ZTE brought its Dynamic RIS technology to the CHTF. RIS, characterized by intelligent control of large-scale low-cost passive antenna units in a low-power way to reconstruct the wireless environment, is considered one of the key technologies in the evolution of 5G-Advanced and 6G networks.

Dynamic RIS is based on the endogenous intelligence of base stations. RIS dynamic beam scanning and user tracking can be achieved by 5G base stations and the RIS dynamic collaborative beam-forming algorithm, so as to achieve better coverage, better user experience and mobility support.

The large-scale MIMO antenna filter integration unit of Shenzhen University boasts the characteristics of small size, lightweight, and low insertion loss. It will greatly reduce the weight, volume and cost of the antenna for the new-generation mobile communication base station, thus reducing the transmission loss, calculation energy consumption and heat dissipation energy consumption of the base stations, and reducing their operating cost.
