Immersive experiences boom in holiday

China experienced a robust rebound in tourism during this year's May Day holiday, with immersive cultural experiences proving to be a particular hit.

Immersive cultural tourism relies on virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), holographic projections, intelligent interactions and other technologies - combined with tourism cultural IP - to create a virtual and real space.

 

These tourism projects have a stronger sense of interactions, scenes and the substitution of real life. The internet of things, mobile communications, cloud computing and AI technology are widely used in scenic spots, bringing new experiences to tourists.
 
There were also many new products during the break exploring the realms of science and technology and cultural tourism at the China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF) - including intelligent formation unmanned aerial vehicles, or UAVs, virtual digital person engines, as well as water curtain projections.

 

An intelligent formation of UAVs can perform dazzling formation flights. The virtual digital human engine deeply integrates AI technologies such as computer graphics, speech recognition and semantic understanding.

 

A virtual digital person engine can provide technical services for entertainment, service and social fields.
 
Architectural projections can be projected onto a building. A water curtain projection is the use of projectors to constantly change images or translate images onto a water curtain.
