The China Hi-Tech Fair holds overseas events in foreign countries every year to forge an open platform to enhance international exchange and cooperation on technology and economy. Thanks to the strong partnership between the China Hi-Tech Fair organizing committee and the local foreign governments and authorities, the overseas events have been successfully staged in dozens of countries since 2005.

 

 

On the Chinese end, each year, a 60 odd-member delegation composed of government delegation and business delegation will take part in the event.

Government delegation includes a leader of Shenzhen Municipal Government, government bureaus and agencies on economy, technology, trade, foreign affairs and investment. Representatives from different provinces and cities in China will join the group.

The China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF) held overseas events in Ireland, Croatia, and Serbia in the middle of June, carrying out various activities to enhance international exchange and cooperation on business and technology.  

  

Chen Biao, Vice Mayor of Shenzhen, attended the overseas events with a delegation consisting of more than 60 Chinese representatives from Shenzhen, Zhuhai, and Shanghai. 

  

Co-organized by the CHTF Organizing Committee, Enterprise Ireland, Croatia Chamber of Economy, and Serbian Chamber of Commerce, participants at the forums conducted discussions and exchanges in the fields of electronics, information communications, high-end manufacturing, and financial investment. 

  

China Hi-tech Fair in Ireland 

  

Chinese Ambassador to Ireland He Xiangdong, Irish State Minister for Business Enterprise and Innovation Pat Breen T.D., and Shenzhen Vice Mayor Chen Biao delivered speeches at the Irish forum. Zhou Mingwu, Deputy Director of the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Commerce, promoted Shenzhen, while Su Yanwei, Deputy Director of the CHTF Organizing Committee Office, introduced the China Hi-Tech Fair. 

  

Entrepreneurs of China and Ireland discussed challenges and opportunities for cooperation between the two countries at the Forum, conducting in-depth exchanges, sharing insights, as well as providing new guidelines and ideas for the cooperation and development of China and Ireland. 

  

To help Chinese enterprises get a better understanding of Ireland, the ‘Discover Ireland’ seminar was held. Declan Hughes, Assistant Secretary General of the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation, gave an overview of the agencies and the economic outlook of Ireland. Kevin Sherry, Executive Director of Enterprise Ireland, detailed how Enterprise Ireland helps Irish innovative companies achieve global success. Bernadette Nulty, manager of Growth Markets, IDA Ireland, discussed how Ireland is the right destination for foreign direct investment (FDI) from China. Ruth Freeman, director of Science for Society, Science Foundation Ireland, presented Irish leading-edge technology and the support they give to Irish enterprises. A Q&A session and a buffet lunch were also included in the event. 

  

In Ireland, Chen Biao held talks with Pat Breen T.D., State Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation; Declan Hughes, Assistant Secretary General of Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation; and Kevin Sherry, Executive Director of Enterprise Ireland to strengthen bilateral exchanges and promote cooperation between the two sides in the fields of science, technology, and trade. 

  

He Xiangdong said at the forum that he hopes the two sides will promote international cooperation through the powerful resources platform of CHTF 2019 on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Ireland. 

  

China Hi-Tech Fair in Croatia 

  

At the CHTF event in Croatia, Mr. Mario Antonić, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Crafts of the Republic of Croatia, State Secretary Mr. Zdenko Lucić, Shenzhen Vice Mayor Chen Biao, and Economic Counselor of Chinese Embassy in Croatia Liu Kai delivered speeches. Zhou Mingwu, Deputy Director of the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Commerce, promoted Shenzhen, while Su Yanwei, Deputy Director of the CHTF Organizing Committee Office, introduced the China Hi-Tech Fair. 

  

Promotional speeches about Shenzhen and the CHTF were made at the forum when CHTF events were held in Croatia. Enterprises promotions were also held at the forum. Mr. Tomislav Radoš, Vice President of the Croatian Chamber of Economy, made a speech on ‘New Opportunities of the Croatia-China Cooperation on Belt & Road,’ and Mr. Zdenko Lucić, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Crafts of Croatia, introduced business opportunities in Croatia. Shenzhen Bay Technology Development Co., Zhuhai Ziyan UAV Co., Dok-ing d.o.o., Guangdong Flying Enterprise Internet Technology Co., Ltd. and Altpro d.o.o. made company presentations. 

  

In Croatia, Chen Biao held talks with Mr. Mario Antonić, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Crafts of the Republic of Croatia, State Secretary Mr. Zdenko Lucić, and Vice-President of the Croatian Chamber of Economy Mr. Tomislav Radoš exchanges on strengthening cooperation between the two sides in the fields of information and communication, energy, and technology transfer intensified. The two countries have since strengthened cooperation in those fields.  

  

Mr. Mario Antonić, also stressed at the forum that CHTF in Croatia is the best platform for companies from both countries to seek more cooperation. 

  

China Hi-Tech Fair in Serbia 

  

In Serbia, Head of Center for Asia, RF, and CIS of Commerce and Industry of Serbia introduced Serbia and China’s economic cooperation. The Belgrade Science and Technology Park gave a comprehensive introduction to the existing industrial system, as well as preferential policies and key enterprises in the park, arranging enterprises to share their successful experience in investment development in Serbia. The enterprises of China and Serbia communicated and shared experiences on the transformation of production, education and research, as well as park management.  

  

Chen Biao worked together with Dragan Ugrcic, Acting Assistant Minister of Ministry of Economy of Serbia, in a meeting to explore potential cooperation between Serbia and Shenzhen in the areas of technology, innovation, finance, and trade. Chen and the delegation also met the Ambassador to Serbia Chen Bo. Chen Bo noted that China will hold a technology innovation conference with 16 countries in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as Greece, in Serbia in October this year. He welcomed the participation of Chinese enterprises in the conference. 

  

CHTF overseas events have held more than 200 matchmaking meetings in total. Entrepreneurs from China have reached a number of intentions of cooperation on projects in the fields of information and communication, electronics, as well as energy and environmental protection with counterparts from Ireland, Croatia, and Serbia.  

  

Zhuhai Winbabe International Chemical Tank Terminal Co and Croatia Domitran Chemical Storage Company reached an intention of cooperation. China Electronics Import and Export Zhuhai Co and its partners in Croatia and Ireland reached an intention of cooperation order for coffee and processed products, air purifier procurement, as well as other projects. Guangdong Flying Enterprise Internet Technology Co and Ireland OpenJaw Technology Co reached an intention of cooperation on R&D in the joint construction of an aviation database, as well as an operation and maintenance management system. XH Smart Tech reached an initial intention of cooperation with Ireland OpenJaw Technology Company on group member customer card issuance and payment projects.

China Hi-Tech Fair 2017 in Bahrain, Estonia and Germany

The overseas sessions of China Hi-Tech Fair 2017 were held successively in Bahrain, Estonia and Germany from 24th May to 1st June. The Chinese delegation included nearly 40 entrepreneurs and 60 representatives.

On May 2017, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) approved membership of Bahrain. On this occasion, China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF) was held in Manama, the capital of Bahrain. At the event, H.E. Khalid Al Rumaihi, Chief Executive of the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB), and Mr. Chen Biao, Vice Mayor of Shenzhen, agreed on establishment of Shenzhen-Bahrain partnership and bilateral cooperation. There were 150 attendants, including high-level government officials, officials of chamber of commerce and industry, entrepreneurs and representatives from businesses in the field of finance and technology. The event had arranged more than 100 match-making meetings between Bahraini and Chinese enterprises. Five significant agreements were signed between Shenzhen and Bahrain, including MOU on Shenzhen-Bahrain Cross-Border E-commerce Cooperation, MOU on Shenzhen-Bahrain Innovation and Entrepreneurship Express, Huawei-Bahrain Telecom Talents Training Agreement and etc. The EDB has confirmed to organize their delegation group to attend the CHTF 2017 in Shenzhen, and will expand the exhibiting area.

It was an optimal time to hold the overseas session in Tallinn, Estonia in May right after Vice Premier of the State Council’s state visit to Estonia on April 2017. At the CHTF in Estonia, Mr. Chen Biao discussed scientific and technological cooperation with officials of Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications and Enterprise Estonia (EAS). The successful stories about cooperation between SF Express and Post11 and Estonian e-solutions presented at the event aroused great interest among attendants.

The CHTF in Germany (Nuremberg) coincided with the 20th anniversary of sister-city relationships between Nuremberg and Shenzhen. In the opening, the hit topics focused on Industries 4.0, the investment climate and opportunities in Bavaria and other key contents. Mr. Chen Biao had a high-level meeting with Dr. Michael Fraas, Deputy Mayor of Economic Affairs, Nuremberg. Over 100 politicians and businessmen coming from Bavaria and Nuremberg presented at this event. Many Chinese and Germany companies reached cooperation intention in about 100 match-making meetings. The Nuremberg Chamber of Commerce and Industry confirms to participate in CHTF in China and Invest in Bavaria will debut in the German Pavilion this year.

China Hi-Tech Fair 2016 in UK, Lithuania and Finland

China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF) in foreign countries, organized by the Office of CHTF Organizing Committee, has been held annually since 2005 in different countries.

This year, the overseas sessions of China Hi-Tech Fair was wrapped up with a great success in UK, Lithuania and Finland respectively on June 23rd–30th. It was the first time that CHTF has come to Britain, at a golden time of the China-UK relations following President Xi Jinping’s recent state visit to Britain. The fair drew substantial attention from British scientific and technological circles, among which were about 130 attendants representing more than 50 scientific research institutions, universities and companies of technology, finance and services. Also first held in Lithuania, CHTF attracted nearly 100 representatives coinciding the 25th anniversary of China-Lithuania diplomatic relations. The Finland session also provided abundant trade and investment opportunities between the two countries.

Commenting on the 2016 CHTF overseas sessions, Mr. Chen Biao, Vice Mayor of Shenzhen said, “The Fair of this year has yielded impressive results in regards of advancing the ‘Belt & Road’ initiative and promoting international exchanges. In particular, Shenzhen is going to be a sister-city of Vilnius, Lithuania and will cooperate with Manchester in graphene business.”

China Hi-Tech Fair 2015 in Russia and Belgium

The overseas sessions of China Hi-Tech Fair 2015 had been held in Moscow, Russia and Brussels, Belgium on June 6th and 9th.

It is the first time that the China Hi-Tech Fair was held in Russia. The sector of science and technological of Russia have paid earnest attention and active participation, as saying that “China makes herself popular in Moscow”. There were about 150 attendants representing nearly 50 scientific research institutions, universities and technology companies from over 25 districts of Russia. They have held more than 150 match making meetings with Chinese companies.

VIPs attended the event included Mr. Zheng Shimin, the Commercial Counsellor of the Embassy of China in Russia, Mr. Chen Biao, Vice Mayor of Shenzhen and Vice Chairman, Secretary General of China Hi-Tech Fair Organizing Committee and Nicola Toivonen, the Director of Department of International Division of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.

Russia is one of the technology giants in the world, with leading technologies in sectors of aviation, aerospace, new materials, new energy sources, etc. Russia and China has signed to build Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and Russia is the key nations for China’s “Belt and Road Initiative” policy.

In Belgium it was the third time that the China Hi-Tech Fair had been held in this country. Belgium has solid strength in science and technology, with advanced technology in fields of microelectronics, biomedicine, energy saving and environmental protection, modern agriculture, etc. More and more scientific and technological cooperation between China and Belgium are undergoing. There were nearly 100 Belgian attendants coming from about 50 Belgian enterprises in sectors of new generation of information technology and high-end new electronic industry. The event had arranged more than 100 matching making sessions between Chinese and Belgian companies.

China Hi-Tech Fair 2014 in Belgium and Spain

On June 2014, the overseas sessions of China Hi-Tech Fair were separately held in Brussels, Belgium and Barcelona, Spain. Brussels is the location of the EU headquarter and known as “the Little Giant of European Technology” and Barcelona is reputed with the name of “Flower of the Europe”.

At the China Hi-Tech Fair in Belgium, VIPs attended the opening and made speech, including Mr. Liao Liqiang, Chinese Ambassador to Belgium, Mr. Bernard Dewit, Chairman of the Belgian-Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Chen Biao, Vice Mayor of Shenzhen and Vice Chairman of China Hi-Tech Fair Organizing Committee, Mrs. Bénédicte Wilders, Chief Executive Director of Brussels Invest & Export. At the event, over 50 Chinese attendants representing organizations in fields of biotechnology, energy saving, environmental protection and venture capital have had 110 sessions of business match making with nearly a hundred of Belgian enterprises. The Organizing Committee of China Hi-Tech Fair and the Brussels Invest & Export had signed a cooperation agreement.

At the China Hi-Tech Fair in Spain, VIPs included Mr. Chen Biao, Vice Mayor of Shenzhen and Vice Chairman of China Hi-Tech Fair Organizing Committee, Mr. Qu Shengwu, Consul General of China in Barcelona and Dr. Joan Tarradellas, Deputy Minister of Innovation, Catalonia-Barcelona, Spain. Nearly 160 Spanish enterprises attended the event and over 200 sessions of match making meetings were held between Chinese and Spanish entrepreneurs. The Barcelona TV Station had tracked the whole event and reported the event. Spanish enterprises were so dying to do business with Chinese enterprises. Besides, more than 50 overseas students from University of Barcelona, the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and the University Pompeu Fabra showed big interest on innovation and entrepreneurship in Shenzhen when they came to attend the event and talked with Chinese entrepreneurs, trying to know more about China, especially opportunities for their future career in Shenzhen.

China Hi-Tech Fair 2013 in Belgium and Hungary

The overseas sessions of China Hi-Tech Fair 2013 were held in Belgium and Hungary on June and July.  

The Chinese delegation was headed by Mr. Chen Biao, Vice Mayor of Shenzhen and Vice Chairman of China Hi-Tech Fair Organizing Committee and Mr. Gao Guohui, Deputy Secretary General of Shenzhen Municipal Government. There were 54 Chinese representatives from Beijing, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Yunnan and Henan provinces. In Belgium, over 80 Belgian companies attended the event. In Hungary more than 250 representatives from Romania, Switzerland, Czech, Slovakia and Germany attended the event. The event organized about 200 rounds of one-on-one business match making. Chinese delegates also visited local incubator, software park and high tech enterprises in Belgium and Hungary. Meetings and exchange with local government, top executives of local enterprises were arranged.  

The China Hi-Tech Fair in Belgium was co-organized by the China Hi-Tech Fair Organizing Committee Office and the Brussels Government. Those VIPs who attended the opening forum were: Mr. Liao Liqiang, Chinese Ambassador to Belgium, Mr. Malherbe Michel, Belgian Ambassador to China, Mr. Chen Biao, Vice Mayor of Shenzhen, Mr. Gao Guohui, Vice Secretary-General of China Hi-Tech Fair, Mr. Jacques Evrard, General Manager, Brussels Invest & Export. After the opening forum, Chinese delegates and Belgian entrepreneurs had enthusiasm on one-on-one business match making event. The MOU about Belgium’s participation in the upcoming China Hi-Tech Fair 2014 was signed between Shenzhen Government and Brussels Government.  

The China Hi-Tech Fair in Hungary was co-organized by the China Hi-Tech Fair Organizing Committee Office and the Hungary Industrial and Commercial Association. VIPs attended the opening forum and gave speeches, including Deputy Director of the Hungary National Innovation Office, Mr. Wang Hongliang, Commercial Counsellor of Chinese Embassy in Hungary, H.E. Alexandru Victor Micula, Romanian Ambassador to Hungary, Mr. Chen Biao, Vice Mayor of Shenzhen, Mr. Gao Guohui, Vice Secretary-General of China Hi-Tech Fair, Mr. Xie Duying, Deputy Director General of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China. The event attracted enterprises from Hungary, Romania, Switzerland, Czech, Slovakia and Germany. Chinese delegates had more than one hundred rounds of one-on-one business match making with attendants from those six countries. Mr. Chen Biao met with Mr. István Ujhelyi, Deputy Speaker, National Assembly, Hungary, Vice President of the Hungarian Socialist Party and Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, the Romania Ambassador to Hungary and the Mayor of Carolina City of Hungary. Chinese delegates had paid visits to the Graphisoft Software Park in Budapest, Hungary and had friendly meeting with the person in charge of Hungarian National Innovation Office.  

The Vice Mayor Mr. Chen Biao led the government mission to Poland after the events in Belgium and Hungary. He met with the Mayor of Poznan city of Poland, having discussed about the further cooperation in science and technology, economic and trade, culture and other sectors between two cities on the occasion of the 10th anniversary?of the establishment of sister city relationship between Shenzhen and Poznan.
