Each year, CHTF is co-hosted in Shenzhen by Ministries and Commissions of the national government and Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government. For each CHTF, the total exhibition area exceeded 100,000㎡, nearly 3,000 exhibitors from more than 50 countries and over 500,000 visitors attended. Currently, it is the largest and the most influential scientific and technological fair in China and is renowned as “the No.1 Technology Show in China”.

CHTF integrates transaction of achievements, exhibition of products, high-level forum, merchant attraction of projects and cooperation & exchange and focuses on the advanced technologies and products in such fields as energy conservation, environment protection, new generation of information technologies, biology, manufacture of high-end equipment, new energies, new materials and new energy vehicles etc. After years of development, CHTF has become an important window for the opening outside in the China’s high-tech sectors and has played a more important role in commercialization, industrialization and internationalization of high-tech achievements as well as promotion of economic and technological exchanges and cooperation between different countries and regions.

Being part of the CHTF, the China High-Tech Forum has won extraordinary reputation by its high-profile speakers as China’s most influential platform in the economic and high-tech domains. Since 1999, a great variety of celebrities have made speeches at this global stages, including 13 Nobel Prize winners, more than 80 ministerial government officials, as well as more than 400 transnational corporation presidents, scientists and entrepreneurs worldwide. 

Apart from the grand opening conference, the industry’s most relevant issues of the year will be addressed upon a series of theme events, including the typical Capital Market Summit, New- Generation Information Technology Summit, and Innovation & Entrepreneur Summit; as well as the featured Internet + Summit, Internet Finance Summit, and The Belt and Road Initiative & PPP Summit, which will be around the discussion on the industry’s spotlighted topics.

During CHTF, an extended service shall be provided for the exchange outside the fair between the participating organs and the high-level personnel in accordance with the individual needs of participating parties. Specifically, Chinese ministries, academies and institutes, national demonstration projects, key national labs, research centers and industry alliances would showcase major national science and tech projects and results; Chinese provinces and municipalities would showcase their key technologies and industries facilitated by local hi-tech zones, research centers and key enterprises; prestigious Chinese universities would showcase their research and progress in combining teaching, research and industry application; foreign governments, industry organizations and international businesses would showcase major cooperation projects in science and tech as well as their latest technologies; a great number of famous enterprises from home and abroad would bring their latest products and technologies in the hi-tech field. 

Second, CHTF is a channel for advanced international tech and products into the Chinese market. Chinese delegations at CHTF bring with them enormous domestic demand from the government side, while influential media coverage inform consumers of exhibitors and their products, these factors combine to offer a channel for exhibitors to present themselves, obtain business information, increase communication and facilitate cooperation. For example, Brussels Invest & Export has joined CHTF since 2007, showcasing hi-tech products of Belgium for eight years in a row; the Walloon Region of Belgium, European countries and the EU also enrolled many times in the past; through CHTF, GSK Belgium reached agreements to establish joint-venture companies with Shenzhen Seaking and Walvax respectively; the Russian Ministry of Education and Science led top Russian enterprises, colleges and institutes to join CHTF for 15 years in a row, engaging in extensive cooperation in high-end equipment, new materials, aviation and space technology, etc; the Bavarian State of Germany organized local SMEs to come to CHTF for 15 years in a row, opening up the vast Chinese market; the Korean cities of Incheon, Kwangyang and Daejeon sent delegations for 6 years in a row, holding Chinese-Korean business seminars and signing deals; on the corporate side, Microsoft, Intel, Simens, Dupont, Hitachi, Huawei, ZTE, Tencent, BYD, BGI, and other multinationals debuted latest products and technologies at CHTF.

The Galileo Project of the European Community and the European Space Agency, as well as the EU’s SPICE Project sought cooperation with Chinese entities through CHTF; the EU’s Horizon 2020 Strategy launched at CHTF 2014, opening up new opportunities for China-EU cooperation; a number of events such as Creative UK, 2014 IEEE Global High Tech Congress on Electronics, Seminar on Smart Cities in Canada, Science, Tech and Innovation in Edinburgh, and Maker’s Night were held during CHTF. Foreign government agencies promoted their economies at CHTF to attract business and investment and gain access to the Chinese market. In this regard, I’m very pleased to acknowledge Mr. Jean-Marc DELPORTE, Chairman of the Management Committee of the Federal Public Service Economy, who gave a speech at CHTF Forum 2014 and pushed for closer ties between CHTF and Belgium.
